PK Cycling

A Smarter Solution

A properly fitted bike is an extension of you as a rider. A proper bike fitting therefore aims to make this a reality, and often requires consideration of biomechanical efficiency, good power development, comfort, and aerodynamics. In fitting you we have the experience and diverse skill set to control for all of these variables to find the trade-off point which maximizes their benefit to you.

PK Cycling’s Comprehensive Fitting Analysis is built upon years of testing and experience coupled with ongoing research.  Only such a thorough foundation will yield the results you deserve.

In performing a fitting, we begin with an extensive interview. The goal of this interview is to find out what has and has not worked with your current set-up, what injuries you have had, and what has been giving you problems. Your flexibility is assessed, as are your core strength and your ability to stabilize in a cycling position—all of which are critical to determining handlebar placement. Any biomechanical issues that may affect your bike set-up are examined as well, such as a functionally shorter leg, tight external hip rotators, or excessive pronation, etc. From this assessment a corrective plan is put into place.

Following this evaluative process, you will work with us to obtain the best position possible given your current biomechanics, along with instruction as to key biomechanical areas upon which to focus in order to continue to improve your position and efficiency over time. The positioning itself is a highly empirical process and is dynamic in nature, moving you through a range of positions and taking numerous measurements in each one.

You will have your existing setup measured and recorded to be used as a baseline, which helps us assess how to best position you. Following your fitting, we record your positional coordinates and any appropriate comments. All adjustments to your bike are made during the fitting whenever possible. For your convenience, we stock a large selection of equipment to help achieve the end goal of a properly set-up bike. If your bike cannot be made to fit, a Size Cycle can be employed to determine your optimal fit coordinates, from which we can work with you to create a perfect bike.
